In cooperation with the University Mental Health Research and the Department of Psychiatry of the Medical School of the Athens National and Kapodistrian University, the basic training consists of Cognitive Therapy theory lectures and skills - based workshops provided through a structured teaching programme.

Lectures and skills - based workshops include:

  • Basic Principles of Cognitive Psychotherapy, Clinical and Cognitive Assessment, Therapeutic Relationship, Challenges in Structuring Cognitive Therapy, Cognitive Case Conceptualization, Cognitive and Behavioral Techniques.
  • The application of Cognitive Psychotherapy in Depression, Suicidality, Anxiety Disorders, Special Phobias, Obsessive-Compulsive and Related Disorders, Somatic Symptom and Related Disorders, Eating Disorders, Personality Disorders, Addiction, Psychotic Disorders, Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in adults as well as the application of Cognitive Behavior Therapy in children and adolescents.

Learning methods include:

  • Theoretical lessons,
  • Workshops, Role play,
  • Observation and modeling,
  • Videotaped psychotherapy sessions

Assessment methods include:

  • written assignments,
  • individual assessment based on their participations on workshops,
  • attendance in lectures and workshops.

After successful completion of the Basic Training courses a certificate will be awarded.
